It's Camping Time!

We went camping this weekend...or so I thought.  According to wikipedia, in many parts of the world, 'camping' refers exclusively to the use of tents.  I can't 'camp' like that!

We have been so antsy to go and wondered if we would ever have a free weekend to get to.  We camped at the White River (which is my absolute favorite spot) and had an amazing time.  Such a great way to get in some family time.  We took a lot of walks to visit the deer that just stood around in the park.  There were several bucks and even little bitty tiny baby deer that were just precious.  Sadly, I did not get any pictures of the little ones.

Garon absolutely loved taking walks.

Grady loved getting to ride his bike.  He is getting fearless on that thing.  Scared me a few times going down those hills.

That's Dan.  Just in case you can't tell! :)
Saturday we had to get in a little fishing.  Grady got a pole and some corn and away he went.  Garon got a chair and a ring pop and away he went.

This water was SO cold I have no idea how he even stood in it.  They both kept wanting to get in and I was seriously afraid they would get frostbite on their toes.  It was THAT cold.

This picture cracks me up.  They are really trying to look like fishermen and Garon is just happy to have a sucker.
We caught no fish on round 1 so we decided to head back to the camper for Garon's nap time.  Daddy read a book to Garon and he really enjoyed it.  In fact, Daddy had to read it a few times.

I laid Garon down for a nap while Daddy and Grady went back fishing for round 2.  Still no fish after round 2.  I was starting to get nervous for him.  We promised him one more trip after supper and easily kept his mind off of it by the presence of Kylie.  We love having guests when we camp.
They colored, played with play dough, swatted flies, and Amanda even read them all a good book about God.
We ate hamburgers and hot dogs and before we knew it...round 3 had arrived.  Kylie came prepared.  She had a pole that had a fish permanently hooked to her pole.  Smart thinking! Who would have thought that Grady would have been so jealous of this pole.  Guess it was from the lack of fish he was catching.  I won't keep the suspense...YES Grady finally caught a fish.  As you can tell it was dark. He waited a looonnnggg time for that fish.

He was so happy we could finally quit and go back.  I was happy because no camping trip is complete without a smore.  Or two or three...

Sunday morning Dan drove us down to the dam and tried to teach Grady all about it.  I had never been that close to one myself.  Love the pictures we took in front of it.

I took this picture right before we packed up against Dan's wanting.  He says it looks like we are true rednecks with all that stuff everywhere.  He's sorta right.  Kind of glad I'm not in the picture now.  :)

Even though camping is a little hectic with a one year old we had an awesome time.  Garon did get his first boo boo right on his nose and his daddy kept reminding me it wouldn't be his last.  I sure hope it is.

We had wonderful neighbors who kindly offered to take a family picture.  I saved it for last because it is one of my favorites.  I love seeing all of us together.

So wikipedia can define it however they want...but this is my kind of camping!  Can't wait for our next camping trip!

What 4 year olds say!

Grady says the funniest and sweetest things all the time.  I try to remember all of them and I know it's impossible so I'm writing this to jot down a few.

Me: "Grady, Aunt Taci invited us over to come try out her new slide. Want to go try it out?"
Grady: "Mom, you are such a genius!"

Grady: "Mom, you want to go lay Garon down for a nap so we won't have to fool with him?"

While I was trying to get all of us ready for Grady's t-ball game, Grady thought it would be a good idea to go in and wake Garon up.  I run after him, just pull him out of Garon's room while trying not to wake him up, and quietly shut the door back.
Me: "Grady, if you wake him up I won't be able to get ready and we won't be able to go to your t-ball game."
Grady: "Well if you pull my arm off I won't be able to play in my baseball game."

Grady is laying in our bed between Dan and me.  Grady is all cuddled up with me with his head on my shoulder.  Grady says: "You are so beautiful."
Me: "Thank you Grady!"
Grady: "I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to Dad."

Grady wants another brother and he wants to name him "Power Ranger!"

Grady to me: "Go get my juice and I'll watch Garon for you."

I'm vacuuming.  Grady: "Taci almost vacuumed Garon up at her house."

Grady is going #2 on the pot.  Garon enters the room.  This is what I hear.
Grady: "Hey Garon, will you go get mama's phone for me so I can play games?"
Garon: "uhhh"
Grady: "This is how you get the toilet paper off.  And see, this is how you flush it."
Yes, if you're wondering, I walked into a mess of toilet paper.
Grady: "See what I taught him how to do??" All smiles.

Grady saying his prayers: "Dear Jesus and God.  Thank you for the beautiful day and the moon and the stars.  Thank you for bedtime stories even though I'm not telling a story tonight.  Amen!"

Grady apologizing to Garon after stealing a toy away from him: "Garon I love you so much! I'm so glad God put you in my mama's belly."

And my personal favorite is the last one....

Grady saying his prayers. "Thank you Jesus for my family because they're so cute. Amen."

You are SO cute Grady Davis! I love you and all the sweet things you say.  So glad to have summers off with you to hears these sweet things.

Joys of Summer

Somebody stop me!  On our first day off for summer we made a trip down to frenzy.  I couldn't stop myself from purchasing these TOMS for Garon! Their too cute!
And here is Garon modeling his new shoes.  This is one of Garon's favorite things to do.  Sit in this chair and watch Baxter.  You love Baxter.  You sit in this chair and yell "dog" repeatedly and grin, kick, and even bark "woof, woof" a little.

I mean how cute is that chunky little foot???

Grady and Garon dog watching together.

And of course...here I go again.  Garon has some of the cutest expressions and I just can't resist.
Here is Grady! Grady is so use to me taking pictures that he has that ONE pose that he always gives me.  It is the one that is half smirk half bored...but if I smirk a little she'll leave me alone pose.  I told him he couldn't do that pose and this is what I got.
And then there was this...
Our first day home was really fun.  I love spending time with my boys!

On our second day home I decided we weren't leaving the house.  That meant we could stay in our pajamas all day if we wanted.  And I stuck to it.  Dan came home at lunch and said, "Are you still in your pajamas?"  Then Dan got home after work and said, "Are you still in your pajamas?"  Just so you know I did shower when Dan got home because Grady had a t-ball game that night.  Here is my monkey boy in his jammers!
I did take the boys out for a little sunshine.  Garon only played in bubby's pool and would gladly give his little pool to anyone who wants it.  :)
We also got the new sprinkler out.  Garon became obsessed with the water hose.  It kept him entertained that's for sure.
And today I did it again.  Baxter had a hair appointment for 8:30 this morning.  I had to literally wake my boys up and get them out of bed.  That was wonderful.  Thankfully they are okay morning people and handled it just fine.  I did not...I am kind of stingy of that morning time.  They usually sleep in till 9 and I can get a lot of things done before they wake.

While we were waiting on Baxter I decided we should run to Hibbett.  Grady said, "Mom, I'm so tired of buying shoes for Garon!" So...they both got shoes.  Which they really honestly truly both needed.  I promise.
Grady picked them out.  Keaton apparently has the same shoe so we had to have them! It was either the shoes or a $35 basketball.  I went with the shoes.  And it just so happened that they had the same shoe in Garon's size.  I wasn't a big fan of the blue but now I love them.

Then Nini invited us to lunch with her.  The boys didn't do to bad and they got to show off their new kicks to Nini.  Grady showed her how fast they were.  Guess it's the blue.  Garon napped in the car on the way to pick Baxter up and had wild man hair for the day!

Oh how I love summer! I have to enjoy it because I have 3 in-service days already next week!
