Happy Birthday Garon!

Last weekend was one filled with a lot of mixed emotions.  My little Garon turned ONE! Of course I cried a lot, especially watching the slide show that daddy made for me.  But I also couldn't help myself from smiling a lot as well.  Garon is such a cutie and it has been a great year.  His birthday was a big milestone that I want to remember forever.  I clearly couldn't post this blog without looking back a little.  So please bare with me...this first pic is the exact day I found out I was pregnant.  Dan was at work and Grady kept saying, "Mom, why are you crying?" We went and bought the t-shirt and surprised daddy!

April 9, 2010 - 6lbs 14 oz - 20.5 in -  3:04 p.m- Garon Daniel Benton was born!

While I was pregnant I worried about Grady's feelings a lot.  Did I wait long enough?  Does Grady get enough attention?  Do we talk about the baby too much?  Will Grady like Garon?  And oh how I laugh at myself now.  Grady loves his brother more than my words can describe.  He's by far the best big brother that I have ever known and I have the pictures to prove it.

"We shared the same last name and the same color eyes."

"There's a bond that brothers know and it gets stronger as they grow."
"They're gonna fight and they're gonna fuss, But they got something special, it's Brotherly Love."

Before I start crying on my computer I better move on to the big PARTY!! What a fun day! We started off this morning by surrounding Garon in his crib while we all sang Happy Birthday.  Garon was a little taken back by his brothers shouting...I mean singing.  He cried at first and then realized it was just his family!

Party planning was fun as usual.  We ordered these cute invitations from Etsy.  It was a 6 page book and she personalized the cards with a story about Garon and Grady.  They were adorable.

I had SO much fun decorating for this Dr. Seuss party.  We had balloons, a banner with pictures, thing 1 and thing 2 hanging from the ceiling and all kinds of stuff.

This table was the fun table.  We had the book Happy Birthday to you by Dr. Seuss and had everyone sign it. We had fish bowls with candy and had everyone guess how many were in there.  And we had blue and red fish soap party favors.

Camille made the cake and did an outstanding job.  I was speechless and still am!

                                                          Garon's personal smash cake!

ABC cookies made by Camille

Thing 1 and Thing 2 cake balls made by Camille.
We also had green eggs and ham sandwiches!

And here is my big birthday boy as cute as ever!

You had no interest in opening up your gifts.  Bubby opened all of them for you.  One of the first gifts was a dump truck and you were the happiest boy alive.  We lost you after that.

Time for some cake.  You were not so sure about that candle or the cake really.  You didn't get too messy but seemed to like the cake.

This was your favorite time of the party.  You thought this was so much fun and you were being a ham.  You were definitely eating up all the attention that you were getting at this moment.  I love how the cake is taller than you! You really wanted that fish!

Everyone in their Seuss gear!

Garon-
I remember so clearly meeting you for the first time.  How anxious we all were to meet you and oh how you melted my heart.  You fit right in and from then on it was hard to remember life without you in it.
From the beginning you were the best baby.  We had no sleepless nights and you hardly ever cried.  Although I did love that about you it's not the reasons I fell in love with you.  Watching you grow this year has been such a blessing to me.  I saw your first smile, heard your first giggle, and cheered you on when you started rolling over.  I beamed when you said mama for the first time! All of it has been amazing.  Now seeing you stand up and try to walk just makes me sad to see how fast time flies.
This year you have been such a mama's boy and I hope you stay that way forever! I love you so much Garon Daniel.  Happy Birthday to my big one year old!
Love you,
Mom

Out with the old...in with the new!

I wrote this post on March 27 and for some reason it would never post.  Trying it again...

Last weekend was awesome to say the least!  Daniel surprised me with a trip to Dallas, Texas to pick up my new Yukon!!  I drove old blue faithfully for 8 years without one problem.  Well, besides the day I pulled into school and the horn wouldn't stop honking...I had to play it cool and pretend I was waving at "everyone" literally!  What an embarrassing day!  But it made a day full of great jokes.
It was honestly hard to leave old blue sitting there in Dallas by herself.  I felt like she deserved more than that.  It took me about 30 minutes to clean her out and two trash bags later I was done.  Beth thought it was only right to say a few words when I got back to work.  Everyone had great memories. :-)
But everyone needs change, and it was certainly my time for a change.  I am now a proud of owner of this beautiful Yukon.  I promise to keep it clean for the next 8 years!!

We basically drove all over town to show off our new rig.  Well Daniel did anyways.  (He drives the new vehicle more than I do.)  We took it to Nini's house and she cooked us all supper.  It was really nice last Sunday and we soaked up the Sun outside.

I got a few pictures of Grady and Hayden this weekend.  These boys crack me up now, but I'm afraid of what kind of trouble these two will get into someday.  It makes me smile to know that these two will be so close, and will take care of each other like brothers.

Spring break was great!  Luke got to come spend the night with us and we had a blast.  Daniel and I braved Brett's basketball game with all 3 boys, oh wait 4 boys, Keaton went with us also.  It wasn't THAT bad.  Keaton hung out with a friend.  Grady just wanted 800 suckers.  Luke just wanted his own bucket seat.  And Garon just wanted to be on Mom's lap.  We had a good time eating popcorn and Brett played a great game.
We had fun getting to spend time with Luke.  He said a lot of cute things, but my favorite was... "time to pick up."  I told his mom he was definitely her kid. Or my house was exceptionally messy!  Thanks Jeff and Gwen for letting us keep him.  Can't wait for Luke to come back!

Staci and I had a yard sale and it was quite a success if I don't say so myself.  I can make my first car payment with the money I earned!

Most might complain about the cold weather, but sometimes I think it's nice to be stuck inside with my family.  I got to play with my boys a lot.  Again, I'm a little sad.  We've been party planning for Garon's big ONE year old birthday that is coming up in two weeks! :-( It's crazy to see how big he has gotten in the past month and we had quite the accomplishment tonight.  Garon stood on his own.  Not just once but twice.  We screamed and cheered of course and he grinned.  It was precious.

I will end with this picture.  It makes me smile.  Boots with shorts is cool right?
